All Leaseholders should have received an email from Ontario Parks yesterday about controlled burns in the park this week. Here is the part of the email:“Ontario Parks would like to inform you of upcoming work within Rondeau Provincial Park. We are planning to conduct a prescribed burn on one or two days between April 7th and April 10th, 2026 within the north end of the park near the campground, an area near the Visitor Centre, and a small section at the south end of Lakeshore Road. The burn is being planned and conducted by the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks to help promote healthier ecosystems and provide more diverse landscapes for Ontarians to enjoy. Prescribed burns also reduce the likelihood of unplanned wildfires which could endanger people and animals. We are planning to burn up to 5-10 hectares (12.5 to 25 acres) of tallgrass prairie habitat. The burn will be conducted between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. Walking trails around the burn blocks will be closed to all members of the public on the day of the burn. Roads in theses area will not be affected.”
