Organizer Jaime Hauseman motivates runners during the November 20th charity run.

I have been trying to find the words to express my gratitude to my friends, family and especially the Rondeau Community for making the Camp for Kids Run such a success. This endeavor began as me and my husband, Austin Smith, were looking for an avenue to run a 10km road race on a flat terrain – what a better place than the road my cottage is on! I took it a step further to inviting the RCA members to join if they would like and we could give the donations to the RYC…… then Miranda Visser offered to help (I thank god for her everyday – I could not have pulled this event off without her)!

I set up the gofundme and donations began to pour in. At the beginning of this, I set two big goals:
1. Raise $2000 to send 10 kids to camp this summer
2. Run sub 46 min 10km race
With the support of all those around me – We were able to exceed both. I ran a 45:25 (life time personal best – Austin also ran a LTPB at 47:23) and as of right now we have had 58 donors and at at an amazing $3,652! The additional funds will be used to upgrade some of the sailing gear at the club and/or send a few extra kids to camp. The process on how families can take advantage of this opportunity will come shortly.
We are already putting plans in the works for next year and will keep everyone posted. It is amazing what one small community can achieve  It is an absolute honour to be a part of Rondeau!
